Today in The Aquarian Health Shop we made some delicious Hummus. For those who haven’t come across hummus before it is a Middle Eastern food which means ‘chickpea’ and today is found all over the world (including Cahersiveen), usually used as a dip served with pita bread. If you fancy making your own here’s what you’ll need.
Hummus Ingredients:
Chickpeas x 400g
Tahini x 2 tbsp
Lemon x 1 (Squeezed)
Garlic cloves x 2
Cumin x 1/2 tsp
Salt x 1 tsp
Pepper (pinch)
Olive Oil x 1 tbsp
Just put all your ingredients into a food processor and mix. You should get a nice even consistency. When serving pop some paprika and parsley on top to give it a nice colour. This dip goes well with most dishes, even on sandwiches or with tortilla chips.
All Ingredients can be found at The Aquarian health shop. We also have our own Hummus for sale if you want to leave the Hummus making to the . . . (cough) experts.

I was born in 1965 in Nuremberg, Germany, to a German mother and a Turkish father. Growing up in a blend of two rich cultures gave me a deep appreciation for food, farmers, and the traditions that nourish us—though I didn’t fully realize this until much later in life.
So how did I end up as a health store owner?
Well, life has a funny way of guiding us toward our purpose.
In my early 20s, I worked in export for a well-known sports company in Germany. But I had a dream of living abroad. That dream led me first to Ireland, then to Australia, and eventually back to Ireland—where I’ve made my home ever since.
